James Morris Lawson Jr. (Septem – June 9, ) was an American activist and university professor. He was a leading theoretician and tactician of nonviolence within the Civil Rights Movement. [1]. James Lawson was an American minister who trained a generation of civil rights activists in the Gandhian tactics of nonviolent direct action.
