British dictionary of biography

The new dictionary, now known as the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (or ODNB), was published on 23 September in 60 volumes in print at a price of £7,, and in an online edition for subscribers. The Dictionary of National Biography (or DNB) is a biographical reference for deceased persons notable in British history. Welcome to the th update of the Oxford DNB, which comprises twelve newly-added biographies and eleven updated articles, ranging from the medieval to the modern periods, with a special focus on historians and the historiography of Wales. They are accompanied by eight new portrait likenesses.
