Jacob Abraham Camille Pissarro (/ pɪˈsɑːroʊ / piss-AR-oh; French: [kamij pisaʁo]; 10 July – 13 November ) was a Danish-French Impressionist and Neo-Impressionist painter born on the island of St Thomas (now in the US Virgin Islands, but then in the Danish West Indies). His importance resides in his contributions to both Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. Pissarro studied.
Camille Pissarro was a painter and printmaker who was a key figure in the history of Impressionism. He was the only artist to show his work in all eight Impressionist group exhibitions; throughout his career he remained dedicated to the idea of such alternative forums of exhibition. He experimented with many styles, including a period when he adopted Georges Seurat’s pointillist approach.
